The Rob Akins Golf Academy at Spring Creek Ranch

The Rob Akins Golf Academy is led by Director of Instruction, Rob Akins. A Top 30 Golf Digest Instructor, Rob continues to teach well known players of all levels and notably instructs PGA Tour players such as David Toms. His staff includes Teaching Professional Jennifer Hudson and Teaching Professional Dan Brown. The Rob Akins Golf Academy has recently constructed a 3,000 square foot Academy on the Spring Creek Ranch property that will allow year-long instruction with state of the art computer technology offering visual learning, covered and climate controlled hitting bays, and over night accommodations.


Teaching Professional, Jennifer Hudson


Jennifer came to Spring Creek Ranch in 2006 as an Assistant Golf Professional where she focused on player development programs including Spring Creek Ranch’s Junior and Women’s Programs. Her past experiences playing collegiate and professional golf coupled with her desire to make golf accessible and enjoyable for all types of golfers has honed her passion for teaching. Jennifer has a Bachelor’s of Arts from Rhodes College, competed on the Hooter’s Women’s Tour for two years and is currently undergoing the PGA’s Golf Professional Training Program towards PGA Class A membership. She aspires to complete the PGA Masters Professional Program with a concentration in teaching. Understudying with Rob Akins, she believes in making knowledge about the swing and playing the game relatable to her students so that they can successfully pursue golf at the level they want to achieve. Jennifer joined Rob Akins at the Golf Academy in Spring 2010 and continues to direct our Spring Creek Ranch Ladies Program.


Teaching Professional, Dan Brown


Dan Brown joined Rob Akins as an Instructor at Spring Creek Ranch in 2009. He has a BS Degree in Health and Physical Education and a  Masters Degree in Business. He has coached basketball, football, and baseball at the High School Level . As a player, Dan has won 27 Local and State Golf Competitions. Dan left the business world for the Golf Industry in the early 80’s as PGA Tour Representative for Wilson Sporting Goods. He managed Tour Program for True Temper Sports and was the Executive Vice President of Snake Eyes Golf and Graphite Design International taking on manufacturing, sales and marketing positions.  Prior to joining Rob at SCR in 2009, Dan understudied with him for two years. Dan is a professional club fitter and as a teacher he believes that golf is not a skill developed from our genes, but is a skill which one can learn. To master these skills he suggests top instruction in the long game, mid game, short game, putting and mental side of playing the game--Everyone gets better.  Dan’s students include Paul Claxton, (Nationwide Tour and PGA Tour), David Eger (Champions Tour), Buzz Fly (Top Amateur with 30 Tournament Wins) and Jonathan Fly (State Amateur Champion).
